COMPANY PROFILE

AOFR Pty Limited, based in Canberra Australia, was established in 1984 to develop and commercialize optical fiber component technology and has manufactured and sold fused fiber devices since 1988. During this period, AOFR developed unique highly automated workstations for manufacturing fused biconic taper (FBT) couplers, wavelength division multiplexers (WDMs) and fiber Bragg gratings (FBG). AOFR's superior design and packaging of fused fiber components has made AOFR one of the leading suppliers of high quality, high reliability fiber photonic components to the worldwide telecommunications and associated markets for well over a decade.

In 1995, AOFR was acquired by ADC Telecommunications Inc, a major supplier of copper and fiber connectivity products and broadband systems to the telecommunications industry. AOFR continued to supply its fused fiber products under the ADC brand and transitioned volume manufacturing to Asia to enable continued supply of the same high quality, high reliability products at competitive prices. Research and development, product enhancement and new product development as well as smaller scale production remains in the Canberra facility.

During the Telecommunications downturn, ADC exited the photonic component business and its fused fiber and grating component business was acquired by Verrillon Inc. in association with the Canberra management team in October, 2002. AOFR continued to operate as a subsidiary of Verrillon Inc, a specialty fiber manufacturer based in the United States.

In October 2007, AOFR was acquired by Arasor International Limited and in February 2009, AOFR was acquired by Aegis Lightwave Inc. As a fully owned subsidiary of Aegis, AOFR retains its identity and corporate base in Australia with the same Management, R&D and Manufacturing teams and Product Lines. AOFR's superior FBT and FBG manufacturing technology for passive fiber couplers, WDMs, Laser Combiners and fiber Bragg grating products also remain exclusively with the company and the AOFR brand continues.
